i pledge my LOVE for you!!!
well, no bride-to-be will anyhow dress on her ROM rite??? so how to find THE DRESS for the occasion... either to buy off-the-rack (otr) or made-to-measure (mtm). looking at my own figure, tink better mtm ba... else how to hide the fats and look nice at the same time. LOL!!!
since feb'05 , i had joined a couple of wedding forums (those mentioned in the earlier post). got to know a couple of forum pals who ROM-ed the same month as me, may'05. so of course we'll all discuss abt where to get this or where to get dat. most of us had heard dat a particular "bridal boutique" Jess Haute Couture which was quite good. though it's a small small shop with a one-woman show, but the owner Jessica does really design nice rom dresses, wedding & evening gowns. sometimes we even see her been featured in the bridal magazines. her ROM package was also quite reasonable.. comes with a mtm ROM gown to keep, a bouquet of roses and make-up.
so a few of us meet up (separately) with Jessica during mar'05 and decided to sign up for her ROM package.. tink it was SGD300. when i went for my first appt with Jessica, she had asked me what kind of design i had in mind. i've flipped thru several bridal magazines and told her that i wanted a strapless gown but muz haf an extra jacket (for covering my big arms). she persuaded me to get a scarve instead as it looked more fashionable, i agreed and so there goes another SGD30 to add into my package.
the so called IN colour for that particular season was either silver grey or champagne, i chose silver grey as it will look better against my skin colour. she gave me her textile swatches and i was overwhelmed by the many different types of textiles and colours. i'd wanted to choose satin but it wun look good on me as i was quite big, so i was recommended shantung silk or duchess satin. end up i had shantung silk for my ROM dress. the design was agreed to be a strapless knee-length dress with a matching scarve. but after a few days, i changed my mind and had the design changed to sleeveless with 2 straps. the front was with over-lapping v-neckline. paiseh ar, no confidence so muz change design.
it takes abt 1.5mths for the dress to be ready as Jessica had many customers... whoah.. the pros n cons of one-woman show. sometimes she can be really busy. The next time i meet her was end of apr'05 liao, tis time i brought along my hubby to show him the dress (he has no idea of the design as it was my sis n mum who went along wif mi when i met Jessica). my main idea was to let him pay for the dress, kekeke. lucky he said it's nice or else....

nt bad ar... one day i tok abt two topics... just now was ringpillow, now abt wedding magazines, websites n forums. actually i tink it'll be more appropriate to tok abt tis topic first but i forgotten abt it.. paiseh. the wedding websites and forums available online is where bride & groom-to-be can get ideas and help... from ROM preparation all the way to AD (actual day). before i decided to ROM, i haf nt heard of any of tis, oni koe that i can refer to wedding magazines available.
wedding magazines and websites are basically the same thing but the website is more detailed. both are very useful guide as it provides the following (pardon me if i missed some); hairstyles, make-up, accessories, photography, wedding favours, gowns, hotels, restuarants & caterers, useful articles like real weddings, wedding wines. The websites even has a directories of merchants mentioned above.
wedding forums is a place where bride and groom-to-be can exchange ideas with each other. a place where you can make new frens and help each other along the way. consisting of many threads, fm proposals, ROM, bridal boutiques to marketplace & exchange.
- local wedding magazines available; Style Weddings, Her World Brides, Female Brides and Wedding&Travel (prices are less den SGD10.00/ea). new issues are out every 3mths or 6mths.
- foreign magazines available; mostly fm US, UK and australia. i managed to find one fm m'sia at a money changer in paragon. if possible, can get frens who are travelling to get for you overseas. some really nice ones are fm taiwan and hkg (it's possible to mail-order). (prices are fm SGD10.00 onwards due to freight and exchange rates)
- local wedding websites & forums - SingaporeBrides, IDO, FemaleBridesOnline, StyleWeddings and WeddingOnline.
i'll post the links in my blog for all your easy reference.

today we tok abt ringpillow... still remember a few years back during my sis's ROM, she didn't use any ringpillow. last time my tinking of ringpillow was dat it can oni be used if u r having a church wedding. LOL!! seem like my tinking is beri suaku coz it's irregardless of whether you having solemnisation at the registry itself or at other venues..
as i'm not beri sure where i could get nice ring pillows from, i decided to turn to the bridal websites for help. so i found one website Lil' Wedding Shoppe which provides services for ringpillow, wristlets and photocollage. after looking thru the collection, i ordered a lambs in love ringpillow which cost SGD70.00. i know tis price is beri steep for a ringpillow, but it's one in a lifetime thing... so u all should koe how i feel rite??? it's two cutesy lil' lambs holding on to a heart-shape pillow. included in the price is embriodery. btw, the lambs are fm sasha bears. here's a look at it...

know i was supposed to write this last nite, but i was unable to do so as i had some guest over at my place last min. so here it is... shall write abt choosing the ROM date
actually i didn't received any proposal fm my hubby before we decided to ROM. well, tis is one of my greatest disappointment in life (i'm sure every woman would want one). i had told tis to my hubby back den abt a mth before the ROM date; 'hey, y no proposal fm u huh, can u juz tink of one and gif mi surprise b4 our ROM date?' and his reply was 'no need lah, as long as we are together and u koe dat i love u can liao'. like dat also can ar...
in the first place when we first got together (29.05.03, co-incidently, tis was also my dad's birthday), we had agreed dat we'll ROM in abt 2yrs time.. so slightly more 1.5yrs later, in jan'05.. we had tok abt having our ROM on 05.05.05. abit of hiccups happened on the way and we nearly went off on our individual ways (shall keep the details a secret). tis was also the time when i realised how much my hubby meant to mi, lucky we made up and all was well again and our love was even greater den before.
tokin abt 05.05.05, tis was a SUPER HOT date as u can see fm the nos. for tis particular date, we had to go online n book the date 3 mths beforehand on 05.02.05 (which was the earliest date u can start booking). i had told hubby we had to logged on at 12 midnite sharp in order to secure the date n he dun believed me. so when we went to my office to use the internet (dat time mi hse no internet and his place too far), we found dat all the timings for 05.05.05 at the registry itself were all taken up. i was abit pissed off at dat time and blamed hubby coz he also doesn't wan to haf the ROM outside the registry (tis was the oni choice left if we really wanted to ROM on 05.05.05). it was also how we ended up having the ROM on 03.05.05.
seem like everything has been settled on the ROM date wif my sis n hubby's mum as our witnesses. who koes abt 3 weeks before the DAY, i was told by hubby dat his mum couldn't make it on dat day as she had to work (i was pissed off by tis too). so we had to pay $$ and change the one of the witness to his bro. although changing the witness and paying $$ was oni a small thing, it would mean alot to me if hubby's mum had attended our ROM.
so dat all on the ROM date thing... coming up next is the chapter on the ringpillow.
